Objective:
The purpose of this assignment is
to enhance learners’ analytical skills in addressing issues related to empowerment in nursing practice.
Synopsis:
Nursing is a
dynamic profession in which nurses are increasingly being given greater
responsibility and providing more complex nursing care. Due to ongoing
development of the nursing role in Malaysia, health care organizations have a
duty to ensure that their workforce is providing the highest standards of care
and meeting patients expectations. This is a task that often falls to nursing
managers and empowerment is an effective tool that nursing leaders can utilize
in order to increase the competence and confidence of their staff. Nurse Managers
should create conditions that empower nurses to foster a dynamic and
independent atmosphere, where mutual trust and respect enable nurses to provide
quality care. Empowered nurses have been linked positively to better health
services and patient outcome.
Requirement:
Critically discuss issues related to empowerment in nursing that
you may identify in your area of practice.
